If you're a fan of Miyazaki's film's you'll have no trouble at all figuring out what this is. For those of you not fortunate enough to have been introduced to his wonderful animation style I'll offer this little explanation. This little guy is a soot sprite or more conventionally a soot spirit. Little helpers who feed the boilers of all life's machinations. Handy and secretive little helpers! If that wasn't enough then I guess you'll just have to go and watch his movies. Soot spirits figure prominently in "Spirited Away". I knitted this little guy for Celia who's a great fan of Miyazaki. I found the pattern on Ravelry so those wanting to give it a try just have to search for soot sprite in the pattern directory. I ended up painting the eyes because I couldn't find what I was looking for in the shops. They're not the greatest but they fit the character well, I think! After crossing the ocean by plane it now looks over Celia's keys so she will always be able to find them when needed!

oui oui... malheureusement je sais qu'il faudrait plus que ça pour que je ne perde jamais mes clés.... mais en tout cas c'est un beau cadeau du coeur pour une petite amour touchée... vivement que l'avion amène quelqu'un d'autre que cette petite boule de suie au travers de l'océan! bien heureuse pour tes vacances à quand les notres??? belle journée mouette stagnante a brive vivement le nouveau départ anglais!!!!
