When I get a day off around here the company pays for a one night stay in a hotel in town. Since this is New Caledonia and people don't give much of a shit in general there's always something wrong with the room. You learn to live with it. This weeks surprise was unexpected and unique as of yet.
The solution you'll find as funny as I did (I hope). The shower is one of the telephone types of things but the thingy that holds the handpiece to the rail was missing. I've never been able to take a shower with one of those handheld shower heads without getting water up my nose or spraying water half across the washroom. Something had to be done.
Below you will find my solution using only bits that I could find around the room. The upshot of all this is I could take a regular shower, obviously, and I finaly found a use for the "sanitary bags" they put in a little holder next to the toilet. Who knew they'd make such handy ties!
I had not seen the movie "Inception" until last Thursday evening. In the movie the main actor has a little top that he spins to determine if he's still caught in a dream. It's called a totem in the movie. Anyway, I remember thinking while watching the movie: "that's a nice looking top, clean lines and proportions". Which led to "hey, I can make something like that". And so, I sculpted mine out of stainless steel. Just because I can I guess.
